Messman
As a messman, my job is to clean everything in the galley and dining room. I also clean the cabins of the senior officers. Working at sea has been my dream since I was little. My uncle is a sailor. He shared stories about the countries he had visited. I wanted that too. So beautiful. I decided to become a sailor too. It became my ambition. So I could travel the world for free.
It was also my dream to become a chef. I love cooking. My family thinks I know a lot about cooking. To become a chef is a new challenge for me. It is my destiny.
At this moment I am on my second contract. My first nine-month contract was a big challenge. When I first boarded, I was quite nervous. Mixed feelings: excited and tense. There were several nationalities on board, each with their own taste. You want to give them what they want. We also had to deal with bad seas along the way.
The biggest challenge you will face on board is homesickness, because you are far from your family. It helps to enjoy yourself on board. Watching movies, listening to music. Then you feel better.
